6 Spots We Recommend You Visit in Coburg

6 Spots We Recommend You Visit in Coburg

If we had a Saturday free in Coburg, here’s our dream itinerary: six perfect stops for a day out.

1. Coburg Farmers Market

First stop: the markets! We'd arrive early to avoid any sold-out signs. First point of call? Fill up our keep cup with coffee from the team at The Coffee Group, then take a stroll through the stalls to pick up some picnic supplies.

On our list to pick up, would be sourdough bread from Ket Baker, cheese (or maybe some creamy quark from Schulz), fresh veggies from Remi's Patch to chop up into crudités, seasonal blueberries and some small goods. Oh, and a pastry for breakfast.

Once stocked up, we’d find a sunny spot, and sit down to enjoy live music, and soak up the market vibes.

2. Pentridge Prison

With our market goodies packed, we'd head across the road to Pentridge Prison.

Once a historic prison, this now multi-faceted space has it all: shops, cafe a cinema, a hotel, and apartments. We'd take some time to walk around the site and learn about its history and explore its stories.

3. Officer Coffee

By then we're ready for coffee number two. A short stroll north through Pentridge leads us to Officer Coffee—a tranquil gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle.

Fabian and Leon, the brains behind Officer Coffee, serve up some of the best brews, and their cosy space always makes for a great chat.

4. Coburg Lake

Armed with our market picnic goodies, we’d head to Coburg Lake.

With plenty of shady spots and that lovely array of wildlife and nature, it’s the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy all the Victorian produce and products that make up our picnic spread.

5. La Sirène Brewing

Next, we’d scoot up the road to La Sirène Brewing in Coburg North. Their patch of paradise is the ideal spot for a refreshing drink and there is plenty to choose from.

The beer is brewed on site and they have at least 8 beers on tap, not to mention wines and food. The brewery’s creative, farmhouse-inspired beers are a must-try—and the laid-back atmosphere is the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Coburg.

6. Village Cinema drive-in

To finish off the perfect day, we'd hop in the car and head to Coburg Drive-In the cinema and catch a movie.

On the 33-square-metre screen you can watch new releases and cult classic. And there's a retro American style diner where you can get all the movie treats your heart desires!
